Prior to your Procedure:
- All patients must register for surgery via One Mnet Health. Please visit soscca.com and click on the “How to Register” link. You will then be directed to our registration portal. Failure to register for surgery may result in delays or cancellation.
- You will receive your arrival time the day before your surgery on or around 2:00PM via text message. Monday patients will receive their arrival time on Friday.
- DO NOTeat or drink after 11:59pm the night before your procedure (unless otherwise instructed by your physician). This includes no smoking, chewing gum, or eating mints. You may brush your teeth the morning of surgery, but DO NOT swallow any water.
- DO NOTconsume alcohol 24 hours prior to surgery. DO NOT smoke 12 hours prior to surgery. These substances can cause you to have adverse reactions to anesthesia and medications.
- Prior to arrival, remove all jewelry, body piercing, make-up, and heavy nail polish. If you wear glasses, contact lenses or dentures you will be asked to remove them for surgery, therefore you will need to have cases to store those items safely.
- Shower the morning of surgery to minimize the risk of infection. Avoid using lotions and powders. Certain surgical showers may be required with certain types of surgeries. Follow specific instructions provided by your surgeon.
Medication Instructions:
- If you are DIABETIC, please DO NOTtake ANY insulin or other diabetic medications on the morning of your surgery.
- If you are taking any GLP- Agonists(listed below) Please HOLD the dose at least TWO weeks prior to surgery if you are taking weekly injections. If you are taking daily injections or oral GLPs, please HOLD the dose at least THREE days prior to surgery. – Adlyxin(lixisenatide), Bydureon BCise (exenatide extended-release), Byetta (exenatide), Mounjaro (tirzepatide), Ozempic (semaglutide), Rybelsus (oral semaglutide), Saxenda (liraglutide), Trulicity (dulaglutide), Victoza (liraglutide), or Wegovy (semaglutide).
- If you use inhalers for asthmaand/or a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, please bring them with you.
- Please ONLY TAKEthe medications approved by your physician or anesthesia provider the morning of your surgery with a small sip amount of water.
- STOP ALL BLOOD THINNERS:(for example: Coumadin, Plavix, Lovenox, Motrin, Advil, ibuprofen, Aleve, Naprosyn, aspirin, Vit E, or fish oil) for seven (7) to ten (10) days prior to your surgery, unless otherwise instructed by your physician. You may use Tylenol based products. Additionally, refrain from herbal and/or prescription or OTC diet medications for seven (7) to ten (10) days prior to your surgery.
What should I bring?
- Photo ID
- Insurance Cardand a form of payment (if applicable)
- Cases/holders for your contact lenses or dentures (if applicable)
*Leave all valuables at home and wear loose comfortable clothing. Loose, button-up shirts is recommended for shoulder and elbow surgery and very loose-fitting pants or shorts for lower extremity surgeries. Form-fitting clothing will make it difficult to wear braces, splints or bandages that are required after surgery. We will provide you with socks and a belonging bag for your personal items.
Responsible Adult:
- You will not be allowed to drive for at least 24 hours following your procedure; therefore, you will need a responsible adult (over the age of 18) to drive you home. We ask your responsible party to remain at the surgery center during your stay with us to allow your physician to provide instructions and information regarding your procedure and post-operative care.Taxi, Uber or Lyft transportation is NOT permitted unless a responsible adult accompanies you. Furthermore, you should have someone stay with you 24 hours after surgery.
Visitors Policy:
- All children under the age of 18 years will need a parent or guardian to stay with them throughout their stay. At least one parent or guardian must be in the waiting room or pre-op area through the duration of the stay.
Other Reminders:
- If you are a female of childbearing age, a urine specimen is required upon your arrival to the surgery center. Please inform the front desk should you need to use the restroom prior to being escorted into the pre-op area.
- If you develop any changes in your health status such as fever, cough, rash, cold, vomiting or diarrhea, notify your surgeon immediately.
